QUOTATIONS-RADIO-TV / The new copyright law will allow quotations during radio and tv programs without the author’s permission

Bucharest (MEDIA EXPRES) / November 24, 2003 / The Romanian Audiovisual Communications Association (ARCA) received the permission to include the radio and tv stations in the article which refers to the free usage of the quotations during the broadcasts.

´The measure was necessary in order to allow, for instance, press articles to be quoted during the press review programmes´, George Chirita, the ARCA Executive Manager, stated for MEDIA EXPRES.

The article no. 33 of the law project was modified in order to set the terms for using the works without the author’s permission and without paying any remuneration.

The Copyright Law no. 8/ 1996 is currently debated at the Culture and Arts Department of the Deputy Chamber. The discussions on the law will continue both in November and December.
