CABLE-UPGRADE / Canal Digital Cable TV selects Teleste for their next generation cable broadband upgrade

Bucharest (MEDIA EXPRES) / 29 Sep 2015 / Teleste has reached a framework agreement with Canal Digital Cable TV, a subsidiary of Telenor Norway, on access network product deliveries for the Canal Digital HFC 2.0 network investment, according a company release.

Under the framework agreement Teleste will provide Canal Digital with 1,2 GHz optical transmission systems as well as coaxial amplifiers which enable maximum benefit of the new DOCSIS 3.1 standard for broadband connectivity over HFC infrastructure. DOCSIS 3.1 enables multigigabit broadband speeds to be offered to subscribers.

The cable network upgrade investment is significant in European scale and the first DOCSIS 3.1 upgrade project in Nordic countries. Teleste was selected after a thorough tendering process thanks to its superior product performance, competitive price and readiness to deliver full access network solution with immediate effect, compatible with DOCSIS 3.1 standard. The total value of the agreement is estimated to exceed EUR 15 million within the years 2015-2019.

Canal Digital is the largest supplier of cable TV and broadband on HFC-technology in Norway.
