FORMATS CONTEST-NATPE 2016 / Top three finalists of International Competition PITCH & PLAY LIVE @ NATPE, Budapest



Bucharest (MEDIA EXPRES) / June 23, 2016 / The format Crack Them Up Kids by Kvartal 95 production studio scored the highest number of points – 58 at the format competition PITCH & PLAY LIVE, which will take place in the International NATPE TV Market in tlhe last week of June, 2016, according a release by Kvartal 95.

The show is an entertaining comic game where kids win prizes, if they make laugh jury members - two popular comedians.

Second place, with 54 points, took the format from Estonia - Best Offer (Osakond) - the show, where celebrities in real time place their personal belongings on the online auction, and money collected during the auction are transferred to the charity.

Project format Pick the Right Box, co-produced by Kvartal 95 and Gaudi Studio, took third place with 52 points. This is a show where the ordinary but at the same time the unique people compete with celebrities in four categories: science, sports, dancing and singing.

All three formats will be presented personally by their creators in Budapest during the session of PITCH & PLAY LIVE on Wednesday, June 29th. The jury will consider all three finalists and select the winner who will be announced at NATPE Budapest. The jury, consisting of Can Okan, CEO & President at ITV Inter Medya, Amos Neumann, COO at Armoza Formats and Girts Licis, Head of CEE, Formats & Content Development at Modern Times Group.

CEO and creative producer of Kvartal 95 Vladimir Zelenskiy said: "We are delighted that once two our formats have been awarded such a high evaluation of authoritative experts from around the world. This confirms the great potential of these shows, the interest in them in the different countries and the possibility of international distribution. ‘Crack Them Up Kids’ is a very sincere and emotional project with the participation of children - the best people in the world. (...) We strongly believe that the project will have new seasons - in Ukraine and in other countries. As for the show ‘Pick the Right Box’, it is entertaining and exciting project about the competition between the stars and ordinary, but nevertheless talented people. We have come up with it and implemented it with Gaudi Studio team. This show allows anyone to believe in themselves, to show their knowledge and skills and compete with the celebrities who have achieved great heights in their business."

The selection committee consisted of representatives of the world's largest media companies:
• Pascal Dalton, Regional Sales Director, Formats: CEE at Endemol Shine Group;
• Nick Smith, SVP International Format Production at All3Media International;
• Noelia Nicolas, Director European Formats at CBS Studios International;
• Jordan Ryder, VP of Domestic & International Programming, NATPE;
• George R. Chakarov, CEO at CEETV, TVBIZZ Group.

Each format was evaluated based on three criteria: originality (how original is the idea for the format), universality (does the format idea show flexibility for changes and development) and internationality (does the format have the potential to be sold internationally). Committee members reviewed each of the ten selected formats and voted on all three criteria with points from 1 to 5. The final ranking was determined by the total scores of five commission members.
